Min. Raymond Harrod

Associate Minister/Minister to Youth and Young Adults

Minister Raymond Harrod accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord at a young age at Craig Memorial Community Church. Although he was quiet and shy, he has always had a Spirit of praise. As a child, Raymond participated in the Youth Saturday School, youth choir, and was a junior usher. In February 2007, he was ordained a Junior Deacon and soon thereafter accepted the call to ministry and was licensed to preach the Gospel in June 2007 at Craig Memorial Community under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Claude R. Swanson Sr. Currently, Raymond serves as an Associate Minister/Minister to Youth and Young Adults at Craig Memorial Community Church under the leadership of Rev. Sherwood A. Walker.

Minister Raymond formerly served as the President of the Youth Usher Ministry and Youth Coordinator of the International Council of Community Churches (Region B, Area 1). He has also served as a Board Member and Planning Committee Leader for the Greater Washington Christian Education Association. He has also taught youth Sunday School classes as well as youth and adult Vacation Bible School. Minister Raymond is a student affairs professional and adjunct faculty in the Academic Enrichment Department at Prince George’s Community College. He is a servant-leader who enjoys working with youth both professionally and in ministry.

As he ministers, Minister Raymond is constantly reminded of the scripture that confirmed his called to the gospel ministry: “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God…” Isaiah 61:1-2
