Min. Betty Winchester

Associate Minister/Minister to Seniors

Minister Betty J. Winchester a native North Carolinian was educated in the public school system in Nash County, North Carolina. She received the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior; and was baptized at the age of nine by the late Rev. Franklin Bullock, Pastor of Sandy Fork Baptist Church in Wilson, North Carolina.

In October 1975 she relocated to Temple Hills, Maryland. After, three years of working in the private sector she obtained employment in the District of Columbia government with the Department of Transportation which later became the Department of Public Works. During her tenure in the District Government she attended and received certificates from the University of the District of Columbia for continuing education. Minister Winchester retired from the District Government after 33 years of service as the Deputy Administrator of Parking Enforcement Management.

She is the proud wife of Albert D. Winchester, Jr., and together they have three daughters and one son. They are also blessed with four granddaughters, eight grandsons and one great granddaughter.

Minister Winchester joined Craig Memorial Community Church in 1987, and has faithfully served as the Assistant Treasurer and a member of the Senior Usher. She continues to serve as a member of the gospel choir, outreach, and intercessory prayer, Women Christian Fellowship, Youth Enrichment Program (YEP) and Sunday School Ministries.

She has received a certificate of achievement in Bible Study from Craig Memorial Community Church; under the leadership of Emeritus Rev. Claude R. Swanson, Sr. She was ordained as a Deacon on November 19, 2005; and served for seven years.

She accepted the calling on her life to preach the Gospel and delivered her Initial Sermon on October 21, 2012. As a member of the Ministerial Staff of CMCC, Minister Winchester currently serves an Associate Minister of Seniors.

One of her favorite scriptures is Psalm 9:1 "I will Praise you, oh Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all your marvelous works."
